Regulations
By submitting an application to the London International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists ("LI-CC"), the participant, and where applicable the participant's parent or legal guardian, confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to all regulations and conditions set out below.
1. Recording Requirements
1.1. The participant's face, hands, and pedals must remain clearly visible throughout the recording.
1.2. Audio or video editing, splicing, manipulation, enhancement, or correction of any kind is strictly prohibited.
1.3. The Competition reserves the right to request additional recordings or verification materials if the authenticity of a submission is questioned.
1.4. Where multiple works are submitted, each work may be recorded separately. Participants are not required to record the entire programme in a single take unless otherwise specified in the repertoire requirements.
2. Category Eligibility and Repertoire
2.1. Participants are responsible for entering the correct age category and submitting repertoire that complies with all published competition requirements.
2.2. Any application containing false, inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information may be disqualified without refund.
2.3. The Competition reserves the right to reassign a participant to the appropriate category or request amendments to the submitted repertoire where necessary.
3. Application Deadlines and Late Fees
3.1. Applications received after the regular application deadline will be subject to the published late application fee.
3.2. The late application fee applies separately to each category entered.
3.3. The Competition reserves the right to refuse late applications at its sole discretion.
4. Payment Requirements
4.1. Please transfer the application fee to the account provided in the confirmation email. After the transfer, please email us at info@li-cc.org with the proof of payment, including the name of the participant and chosen category/categories.
4.2. All application and participation fees are non-refundable except where otherwise stated in these regulations.
4.3. Any bank charges, transfer fees, currency conversion fees, or similar costs shall be covered by the participant.
5. Attendance at Live Rounds
5.1. Participants selected for the Semi-Final and/or Final Rounds scheduled for 1–3 March 2027 must attend in person.
5.2. Failure to attend may result in withdrawal from the competition and forfeiture of any awards or advancement opportunities.
5.3. In the event of a serious medical emergency, participants may submit official supporting documentation, including a doctor's certificate, for consideration by the Competition Committee.
6. Media Consent
6.1. Participants attending any live round grant LI-CC and its authorised partners permission to photograph, film, record, livestream, broadcast, publish, and otherwise use their image, name, biography, and performance for promotional, educational, archival, and publicity purposes.
6.2. No compensation shall be payable for such use.
7. Jury Decisions
7.1. All decisions of the Jury are final and binding.
7.2. Jury members are under no obligation to provide written or verbal comments, evaluations, or feedback.
7.3. No correspondence or appeals regarding results, rankings, awards, or Jury decisions will be considered.
8. Obligations of First Prize Winners
8.1. First Prize winners in each category are required to perform at the Final Gala Concert.
8.2. During the Final Gala Concert, eligible First Prize winners may compete for additional awards, including the Grand Prize and Audience Prize, subject to the Competition's published regulations.
8.3. Failure to participate in the Final Gala Concert without prior approval from the Competition Committee may result in forfeiture of titles, awards, certificates, prizes, or performance opportunities.
9. Age Verification
9.1. Participants may be required at any stage of the competition to provide proof of age and identity, including but not limited to a passport, national identity card, or birth certificate.
9.2. Failure to provide satisfactory documentation upon request may result in disqualification.
10. Copyright and Performance Rights
10.1. Participants retain ownership of their performances.
10.2. By participating in the competition, participants grant LI-CC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to record, reproduce, archive, publish, distribute, livestream, broadcast, and otherwise use submitted recordings and competition performances for competition-related, promotional, educational, and archival purposes.
10.3. Participants shall not be entitled to additional remuneration arising from such use.
11. Cancellation and Force Majeure
11.1. LI-CC shall not be liable for any delay, modification, suspension, or cancellation of the competition caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, civil unrest, governmental restrictions, political conflict, national emergencies, venue closures, transportation disruptions, or serious public health concerns.
11.2. In such circumstances, refunds, credits, transfers, or alternative arrangements may be considered at the sole discretion of the Competition Committee.
12. Conduct and Disqualification
12.1. Participants are expected to maintain professional and respectful conduct throughout all stages of the competition.
12.2. The Competition reserves the right to disqualify any participant who breaches the regulations, provides false information, engages in misconduct, or behaves in a manner that may bring the Competition into disrepute.
13. Communication
13.1. All official communications will be sent to the email address provided in the application form.
13.2. Participants are responsible for ensuring that their contact information remains accurate and up to date.
14. Acceptance of Regulations
14.1. Submission of an application constitutes full acceptance of all Competition Rules, Regulations, deadlines, and decisions of the Competition Committee and Jury.
14.2. The Competition reserves the right to amend these regulations where necessary. Any amendments will be published on the official competition website and shall take effect immediately upon publication.
